The Speed of Joy, “Isn’t She Lovely?” | Stevie Wonder | unclassified tempo map, video embed

Whenever I think of the joy of a new life, it is very often that the Stevie Wonder classic “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life” comes into my focus.

An excellent use of the term “Backstreets” as used in American suburbs | unclassified tempo map of Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band 1970s song

There is an enthusiasm throughout that song that though Bruce and his love interest aren’t what we would call today “rich”, life was pretty damn good driving around freely on hidden backstreets at night just being with people you liked.

Yesterday the writers at the Young and the Restless used the American suburb term “backstreets” in a way Bruce Springsteen did when he wrote about the streets of New Jersey.

Jeff Lynne’s E.L.O. / “SHOWDOWN” / live, Wembley Stadium, median expected tempo chart

Seems to me that songs I don’t fall in love with *right away*, but rather grow on me over a year or two, become my favorites.

“Showdown” Jeff Lynne’s E.L.O. – median expected tempo diagram

I was lucky enough to see and hear the fantastic Jeff Lynne with *his* E.L.O. in Philadelphia last month.

Seems to me that songs I don’t fall in love with *right away*, but rather grow on me over a year or two, become my favorites.

When the band played this in my wife’s home town of Philadelphia last month, SHOWDOWN was unexpectedly the song I enjoyed the most.

Respect to all,

So much has been said about this particular performance of the song JEREMY by Pearl Jam that to add more words toopinion would just be making fewer words.

As far as I know these are the only accurate tempo numbers for the song, but who counts?

Follow You, Follow Me / the first live Genesis song that most of the women liked?

Speaking of which, since hypersensitivity regarding gender has already ruined comedy temporarily, and Melodyne and autotune have temporarily dulled music by taking the blues out of it, let us not ruin everything!

Follow You Follow Me, Genesis

One year when I was going to Genesis concerts I thought: when the girls say. “Oh, they’re going to play the song that all the girls like,” I kinda knew from playing so much Genesis in public places that women did like this song a lot. [Now there are 60 genders or something, so one can’t say that anymore – just a way people used to speak.]

The reason there are so many musical recordings is that we all respond differently to everything we hear.
